How much does it cost to register a company in Tanzania?
Government fees start at about TSh 211,200 for a private company limited by shares with the legal minimum of two shareholders and share capital up to TSh 1 million. That total is made up of the BRELA registration fee, a filing fee, stamp duty, and a Beneficial Ownership fee charged per shareholder. Fees rise with your share capital band and the number of shareholders. Professional fees for handling the process are separate. How long does it take to register a company in Tanzania?
A certificate of incorporation is typically issued within five working days once the name search is cleared and all documents are filed correctly with BRELA. Delays usually come from a rejected company name or incomplete shareholder identification, both of which we check before filing.
How many shareholders does a Tanzanian private company need?
A private company limited by shares must have at least 2 shareholders and no more than 50. This is a legal requirement under Tanzanian company law, not a policy of any consultancy.

What is Beneficial Ownership filing and is it compulsory?
The Beneficial Ownership register records the real human owners behind a company. Filing it is compulsory under the Companies (Beneficial Ownership) Regulations, and a government fee of TSh 22,000 is payable for each shareholder.
Can a foreigner register a company in Tanzania?
Yes. A company may be wholly or partly foreign-owned. The registration process is the same, but quotations for foreign-owned companies are issued in US dollars, and additional permits may apply depending on the business activity.
Do I pay the government fees to Gusa Consulting?

What do I need to register a company in Tanzania?
